Destination Telluride: The Recent Celebrity Hot Sheet

With towering peaks and cascading waterfalls, it’s clear what draws those in the know to Telluride. According to the Denver Post, local listing agent explains the home was crafted with the utmost intention towards privacy and exclusivity, featuring an estimated $4 million dollar mile long driveway just to drive into the property from its gated entrance. The home, situated on the Deep Creek mesa just outside of Telluride, was brought on to the market for $39.5 million dollars in mid-December, and by the end of March, was already under contract. The home and guest house feature gorgeous views of the Wilson range and over 11,000 square feet of space including 7 bedrooms and 9 full baths. There is no doubt this residence was a special place to the now 58 year old actor. Mentioned in People Magazine, Tom Cruise’s Telluride home is “where he famously sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2008 and, a year and a half earlier, opened up to Vanity Fair alongside then-fiancée Katie Holmes, sharing the first photos of their daughter, Suri.”

Oprah

That leads us into our next extraordinary celebrity residence owner, creator and owner of the Oprah Winfrey Network, and beloved talk-show host, Oprah Winfrey. For just under $11 million dollars, Oprah purchased the largest parcel of land (60-acre lot) way up high in Mountain Village to construct her future residence-to-be. Meanwhile, while her dream home is currently being built, Oprah purchased yet another incredibly high-tech and rigorously designed masterpiece in Telluride for $14 million back in 2015. Mountain Living highlights some of the incredible aspects of Oprah’s home, including a $70k limestone jetted tub, a tree-top canopy observation deck with a fire pit, a 56-foot-long wine room, and a custom- built funicular to provide the amenity of 1-minute transport directly onto the Sundance ski run of the Telluride Ski Resort. We will keep our eyes peeled to see what happens with this extraordinary residence once her dream home is finished, but there is no doubt this home is equipped with some of Oprah’s “favorite things” to supplement her lifestyle and taste.

Jerry Seinfeld

The most recent celebrity listing in Telluride is presented here last: Seinfeld’s Colorado mountain retreat home. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica, have not one, but two Telluride, Colo., estates on the market. For the larger property—about 27 acres—and its house, they’re asking $14.95 million. For the smaller one—on a mere 17 acres with just a four-bedroom home—the price tag is $2.78 million.” Combined and offered together, the listing is $18 million dollars and is still active today. The Robb Report further details highlights of the sundrenched, mountain-modern farmhouse style home as having the car enthusiasts’ dream garage space, over 5,000 square feet of deck, and miles of trails on the property making it the perfect winter or summer getaway for snowshoeing or hiking. The home has a yoga studio, rec room, and wine room, and is just 10 minutes from the ski resort, where the Seinfelds love to hit the slopes on a ski vacation.
